Thank You for Your Service – Switchboard honors you

Veterans Memorial Day

 Switchboard Salutes our Veterans

On Veteran’s Day, ceremonies are held to honor and thank all who served in the United States Armed Forces.

Veterans are people who served in the military (U.S. Army, Navy, Marine Corps, Air Force, and Coast Guard) in times of war or peace. The unfortunate truth is that many veterans return from war with serious mental illness, including depression, anxiety, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The best support you can give to someone experiencing these issues is to be a good listener and intervene when necessary.

After participating in this year’s Homeless Veterans Stand Down coordinated by the Florida Veteran Association this past 2014 Memorial Day weekend, Switchboard attended a three- day event allowing attending organizations to not only  provide services and information and referral but to have an opportunity to shake hands, hug and kiss those Veterans who have found themselves without a home, some of whom have no family and/or support system. It humbles us to know these veterans served our country and have found themselves in a less than desirable circumstance. If you or someone you know are struggling, whether you or a veteran or the people they have served, call Switchboard.

To all the Men and Women Veterans and their families who stopped at our Switchboard 2-1-1 and LIFELINE table, thank you for your service.

If you or someone you know is in need of services please, call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800.273.8255 and Press 1.
